#935 Hayden From Australia, Working With Obama

Show 935 Monday 12 January
Watch today’s show at YouTube or BlipTV.

Hi, I’m Sarah, welcome to The Daily English Show.
Today we have our first chairlift interview of the season. The Daily English Show cameraperson, knf, has been let loose on the mountain. This year he’ll be in Annupuri terrorizing the tourists. Annupuri is one of the ski resorts in the Niseko area. Knf’s first victim was Hayden from Australia. He found Hayden in a lift called: Niseko Annupuri Jumbo Number 1 Quad Lift. And the first question was: Whereabouts in Australia are you from?

Ah, I come from down south, round Melbourne, Melbourne area.

STICK NEWS

Kia Ora in Stick News today over 350,000 people have applied for jobs to work with the next president of the United States of America.

Next week Barack Obama will officially become the president of the United States of America. The group of people who work with him will be called the Obama administration. CNN has reported there are about three to four thousand jobs available in the Obama administration. But over 350,000 resumes have been submitted online for these positions. Apparently some specialists think the record number of applicants can be attributed in part to the current state of the economy. But many experts say the record number of applicants is mostly a reflection of Obama's overwhelming appeal.

And that was Stick News for Monday the 12th of January.
Kia Ora.

conversations with sarah

#585 Do you think you’ll come back?

Step 1: Repeat Sarah’s lines.
Step 2: Read Sarah’s lines and talk to Hayden.

Sarah How did you find out about Niseko?

Hayden Ah, we’ve, ah, we’ve heard about Niseko from, ah, actually many other Aussies that have travelled to Japan to ski. And, ah, they have had lots of wonderful things to say about the snow. So, Niskeo is, ah, is starting to get quite a name back in Australia.

Sarah What do you think of today’s conditions in Annupuri?

Hayden Today’s conditions in Annupuri are some of the best I’ve ever seen. Ah, we’ve had a lot of powder today – probably, ah, at least, ah, twelve inches, maybe more. And the conditions under foot are sensational, so it’s a wonderful spot to come and ski.

Sarah How long are you going to stay in Niseko?

Hayden Ah, we are here for, ah, about ten days. Um, but, ah, if it was, ah, possible I would certainly like to stay a bit longer, but unfortunately, ah, we may have to wait til, ah, our next trip.

Sarah Do you think you’ll come back?

Hayden I think there’s a very strong possibility that we will be back in the future. Ah, we’ve loved our time here and, ah, you certainly can’t find better skiing, ah, anywhere that I’ve, I’ve skied before. So, certainly would love to come back.
