Show 464 Friday 10 August

Watch today’s show at YouTube or BlipTV.

Hi, I’m Sarah. Welcome to The Daily English Show.

I got an email from someone in Chile asking me how to download The Daily English Show. One way you can do it is through iTunes. You can subscribe to The Daily English Show as a podcast through Crackle, formerly known as grouper. And they’ll automatically download when you open iTunes, so that’s really convenient.

Another way you can download videos is with this site.

That is an online converter. So you just take the url from YouTube and put it in there and it converts it for you and downloads it to your computer.
So if it’s just one or two videos that you want to download – then I would download them there. I think it’s pretty good. It’s simple and easy to understand. That’s the site I used when I made those videos with clips from YouTube ... like show number 304.

STICK NEWS

Kia Ora, in Stick News today, the New Zealand government is planning to spend millions of dollars to attract overseas students.

The New Zealand Herald reported today that 93,000 international students from 150 countries are studying in New Zealand.
They say the economic returns are $2 billion a year, making international education New Zealand's fourth largest export earner.
The government is now planning to spend ten million dollars over the next four years to encourage students to study in New Zealand.
The chief executive of Education New Zealand said that recent research indicated that satisfaction levels among international students studying in New Zealand was "very high".
But in recent years the industry has experienced a decline.
The Tertiary Education Minister said the $10m fund would be used to support and invigorate the international education industry.

And that was Stick News for Friday the 10th of August.
Kia Ora.

#285 How’s the weather there?

Step 1: Repeat Jane’s lines.
Step 2: Read Jane’s lines and talk to Sarah.

Jane How’s the weather there now? Is it still hot?

Sarah Today it wasn’t hot actually. Actually was kind of cold this morning.

Jane Oh, really.

Sarah Yeah and it rained too. But only for a few minutes unfortunately.

Jane You want it to rain?

Sarah Yeah, there are forest fires near here so people want it to rain.

Jane Really? Forest fires? Near where you live?

Sarah Yeah. Pretty close. Well not that close ... maybe an hours drive away.
